Lamborghini Suspension
October 2008
VLGers,
I was given True Choice Koni Racing Services as a contact to rebuild the
Koni's from my Islero S. I can now highly recommend their services. They turned
my shocks around in a week at a very reasonable price. The starting condition
was truelly awful, but now my shocks are as good as new. I will try and add them
to our vendors list, but in the mean time, here is their web address and I have
added a couple of pictures too.

I paid $110 labour per shock plus parts. Initial estimate of parts over the
phone was $40 - $50 per shock, but it ended up being a bit more. I must stress
what a mess the shocks were to start with! Given the difficulty in getting any
other quote at all, and how much they were when they came in. I was very
happy.
Cheers Julian

Hi, There is stamped on my scock absorbes from my Islero 82P- 1610 on 2 of
them and 82P-1611 on the other 2 . I have tried to get the repaired without success, so I have asked
Lamborghini. They have on stock the front absorbers for Miura, which according to Craig
is stamped with 82P-1582. Can they be used? John T
The deal (at least here in Europe) is that Koni do not wish to anything to do
with these "legacy" products anymore. I was in need of restoring the Koni's
for the Espada S1 that we have up in the garage. First we called,
Koni in Holland, as they are a Dutch company, they said: Out of luck... I
then had some of my French speaking friends call Koni in France, who used to
restore the old types after Koni in Holland did not wish to do this anymore.
But still no luck..I then got a reference here from the VLG to a place
in Norway (www.simco.no) that had been doing this for scandinavia, we sent
the shocks up there SEPTEMBER of last year. After having called about a
million times, the owner up there tells us that he is simply not able to get
the repair parts anymore for the Konis. He has been renovating them
for many years, but cannot do it any more as there is simply no source for
the repair parts anymore. While we were still waiting on the Espada S1
from Norway, I suggested to John that he could use the same place.. But they
did not come through for us, so now both John and the S1 owner, are in the
dark abouth where to get them fixed...Uno
Thanks,My shocks is in Norway at Simco ( see mail from Uno ). He claim that he can
not get parts from KONI, which he used to get. According to KONI here in Denmark
KONI has closed a deal with Lamborghini resulting in only only Lamborghini is
allowed to sell old shocks for Lamborghini.I am running out of time as I have plan to car present at the big Italian
car event in Belgium end of June. John T
I am using Performance Shock http://www.performanceshock.com/ to restore
my Konis. About $150 a shock, and 3 week turnaround. I think if you
shipped your shocks to Koni during the summer, you can expect to wait a
few months to get them back. Are yours somehow unrepairable,
or have you not found a restorer? TK

question,Good Luck Steve
Helle all, I had all four shock absorbers restored by a
company called Derendinger in Switzerland. two a few years ago
and the last two a few days ago. I have also found that Koni does
not hold spares for these models. There are two different model /
serial numbers. Does anyone know which are the front absorbers and
which are for the back. I assumed that the dirtiest ones where
for the front assuming that dirt = engine bay ? The springs are
also of different length, = long ones where the weight is ie.: engine
bay. Best regards,Daniel
