2.4.10. Paintwork (from 1971 P400SV owners manual)----------------------------------
In case of any bodywork repairs only thermoplastic acrylic coating system should be applied, and according to one of the following procedures in order to maintain the finish in its original condition.  WARNING -Only Italver-Pittsburgh Paints S.p.A. are recommended. An adhesive label with the exact denomination and numeration of the paint-work of the car is fitted in the engine compartment.
Denomination: DURACRYL - Coating System.
Quality: Thermoplastic Acrylic for automotive.
Use: For total or partial recoating with air drying or low baking.

1) Coating system on bare sheet and on light alloys with air drying or baking.
a) Accurate degrease with thinner 2.995.017. If necessary remove the rust by sanding.
b) Spray painting of one coat of Wash Primer 1.146.059 blended 1 to 1 by weight with catalyst 1.909.059.
Spray viscosity: 12 sec. Ford cup n. 4.
Air drying: 60 sec.
c) If necessary apply green nitrosynthetic knife putty 1.163.016.
Interval during the passes: about 1 hour.
Air drying: 3-4 hours.
Wet sanding with paper n. 240-320.
d) On the uncovered zones of bare sheet apply a thin coat of Wash Primer as at point b).
e) Spray application of gray filling primer 1.122.100.
Spray viscosity: 20-22 sec. Ford cup n. 4, obtainable by adding about 70% thinner 1.991.022.
Thickness suggested: about 40-50 microns.
Air drying: 12 hours minimum.
f) If necessary, apply again gray-green nitrosynthetic knife putty 1.163.016.
Air drying: 2 hours minimum.
Sanding with paper n. 360-400.
g) On the areas covered with putty overspray with gray filling primer 1.122.100.
Thickness: 30 microns maximum.
Air drying: 3-4 hours.
Sanding with paper n. 360.400.
h) Apply one double coat of Duracryl Metallic Sealer 2.155.044.
Spray viscosity: 14-15 sec. Ford cup n. 4, obtainable by adding 120% or acrylic thinner 1.993.044.
Thickness suggested: 20-30 microns.
Air flash off 10-15 min., then.
i) Apply wet on wet 4 to 5 double coats of Metallic Duracryl Line 44.
Spray viscosity: 13-14 sec. Ford cup n. 4, obtainable by adding 120% of thinner 1.993.044.
Air drying: 24 hours.
Bake: 60 min. at 80̊C.
j) Apply 4 to 5 double coats of thermoplastic Metallic Duracryl.
Spray viscosity: 11-12 sec. Ford cup n. 4, obtainable by adding 130-140% thinner 1.993.044.
Thickness suggested: 40-50 microns in total.
Air drying: 24 hours.
Baking: 60' at 80̊ C.
m) Polishing.

2) Coating system on bare sheet and on light alloys only with baking (Preparation with baking epoxy primers).
a) Accurate degrease with thinner 2.995.017. If necessary, remove the rust by sanding.
b) Where necessary, use of two component epoxy knife putty 2.164.083.
Catalyst: 2.904.018 -black color.
Catalysis ratio: 1 to 1 by weight.
Pot-life: about 1 hour.
Air drying: 18-24 hours.
Bake: 30 min. at 60̊-80̊ C.
Sanding with paper n. 180-220.
c) Spray application of one double coat of Beige Epoxy Primer 2.124.043.
Catalyst: 1.904.019.
Catalysis ratio: 5 to 1 by weight.
Pot-life: about 12 hours.
Spray viscosity: about 30 sec. Ford n. 4, obtainable by adding thinner 2.994.097.
Thickness suggested. about 70-100 microns.
Bake: 1 hour at 60̊-80̊C.
Wet sanding with paper n. 280-320.
d) If necessary use gray-green nitrosynthetic knife putty 1.163.016.
Interval during the passes: about 1 hour.
AIr drying: 3-4 hours.
Bake: 30 min. at 60̊C.
Wet sanding with paper n. 240-320.
e) On the areas covered with putty overspray with gray filling primer 1.122.100 as the point d) of the coating system n. 1.
Follow then as the points h) i) j) m) of the coating system n. 1.

3) Coating system with air drying or oven baking on surfaces previously coated with products based on nitrocellulose, baking synthetic, thermosetting acrylic or thermoplastic acrylic vehicles.
a) Sand the entire surface with paper n. 180-220.
b) If necessary use gray-green nitrosynthetic knife putty 1.163.016.
Interval during passes: about 1 hour.
Air drying: 3-4 hours.
Sanding with paper n. 240-320.
Follow then the points d) e) f) g) h) i) j) m) of the coating system n. 1.

VLG - 01/11/05 - Glen, as Fred already hinted: I've only got a scan (and that seems to be rare enough already!) so there's nothing for me to unscrew unfortunately.  Now, anyone got any suggestions which of the grey's on that 350 chip is called: argento, grigio argento, grigio medio and grigio saint vincent?  Have to admit that these are some of the frequently used colors used on 400 GT 2+2's that I am aware of. Other often sold colors on that model were: amaranto, azzuro Fiat, bianco, blue, blue notte, rosso Alfa and verde. So apparently more standard colors were available for the 400 GT 2+2. I've counted 11 instead of the 9 available for the 350 GT's. But they've also sold a few other (special request?) colors, like "azzuro marmolada" (only 1 car), "blue chiaro" (also only 1 car), "blue notte speciale" (again, only 1), "grigio argento metallizzato" (only 1), "nero" (just 2 cars) and "rosso" (4 cars) and finally "verde scuro" (just one car in that color).  Marcel

I found my note on the Miura lime green paint. There is no code, but this is how you make it dead accurate. Dupont Chroma Premier SpectraMaster 1 Qt. Mix #GS101  With 1.2 parts 831J (L/S Fast Green) and 20 parts 841J (Yellow) added to GS101.  Regards Paul Hoey
