Motocross Shocks
1966
- 1977 Husqvarna PS series 12 Shock set
A direct replacement for original Husqvarna Girling.
Progressive Suspension has a much stronger, larger shaft, these shocks
are emulsion technology and are to run with body down, just as original.
The lower eye is offset to allow chain clearance. The shocks are right
at the legal travel limit for AHRMA. These Progressive Suspension series
12 shocks will be good for years of riding. I have personally used
the same set for 5 years on my 1967 Husqvarna race bike and they have performed
well without any problems. Lighter and heavier spring set pairs can be
provided ($60). Eye to eye dimension is 13.0" which is slightly longer
than 12" originals, but a perfect fit for all Husqvarna 1966 thru 1975
MK series. These are not fancy shocks. No gold anodizing, no flashy paint
or decals. They look like period shocks should look - black and functional.
The technology inside these shocks is modern, gas charged with heavy shaft
size, modern shaft seals.
If you are wanting to have fun with your bike - trial
riding, vintage enduro riding and motocross racing, these are the
shocks to get. They feature a 5 position cam preload for spring, black
plastic body protectors to eliminate spring rubbing paint off body and
the spring, offset lower eye for chain clearance, complete with correct
bushings and spacers to accomodate your Husky application. A spanner wrench
for preload adjustment is included.
Priced per pair with springs and ready to bolt on (pair
of PS shocks w/springs, 4 correct eyelet spacers, 4 new correct mounting
bolts w/ lock nuts, cam grease, decals, spanner wrench) - 66-75 Husqvarna -13.0" - $220

Questions
on PS twin shocks -
Q. What advantages would you have
buying these Progressive Suspension units from me ?
A . When you open up a shipment from anyone else selling
PS shocks for Husqvarna, what is contained in the box is incorrect
and missing hardware to correctly mount Husqvarna shocks (as well as many
other applications). You will either install attempting to use this generic
misfit or you will attempt to find hardware or make hardware. If it were
easy to supply these Husky details PS would do it.
What I supply will be the correct details to make installing
a breeze with correct sizing and fits.
Q. I see people not using the top
cover cap on their PS shocks, is this a problem ? can it be taken off?
A. It is common not to use the
cap and it is easily taken off by hand compressing spring, allowing retainer
to fall free. It is just a cosmetic piece and most mx racers will remove
and not use.
Q. Can I rebuild these units?
A. No, these are sealed units and
will last for years. When they leak or wear out you must replace them.
I worried about this technology when I started using them in 1997. I have
never had a pair wear out or leak.
Q. Why would anyone buy the heavier
spring sets?
A . When you move a shock foward on the swing arm (like
a mag 250), or lay it down , the leverage ratio changes and this requires
a heavier spring for the same rider weight.
Q. I need 2 pair of shocks. Can
I save any money by buying 2 pair at once?
A. Yes, if you purchase two
pair, the second pair are 200. Third pair 190 (220+200+190). Shipping
will be whatever cost is for 11 lbs more (or 22 lbs)
Shipping charges need to be added to items above if not
addressed, I typically use proirity mail
